Wild swimming workshop to build confidence swimming at night
Join us at Alpkit Keswick on November 20th for a night swim in Derwentwater, led by Ali from Always Swimming Wild.
The Dark Waters of The Lake District can be a daunting place to swim, but why not build your confidence or dip your toe for the first time with us at Alpkit. This event is suitable for open water swimmings and dippers who would like to get out at night. Anyone who wants to build confidence swimming in the dark ot has never tried it.
Ali will take you out as a group and guide you along the lake shore before heading further into the lake. You will cover the additional items you may need for a night swim, and winter swimming to keep yourself safe.
The best time to learn is with others and you will always be in a group. This session will cater to all levels and be an opportunity for everyone to learn together.
After our swim we will either stay at the lake for some hot food over the fire pit or back to the shop to warm our fingers and toes! This will be decided on the day, weather depending.
To swim you'll need:
Swimsuit/wetsuit and towel
Woolly hat (possibly two, one for the water and one for afterwards)
Lots of warm clothes for after and a mat to sit on
Please let the Keswick store know if you would like to borrow a wetsuit and they'll organsie one for you
Swimming socks and tow floats will be provided
A bag to put it all in
Meet at the Alpkit Keswick store at 5pm on November 20th.
The walk to the lake is around 10-15mins and you'll need to carry all of your own items.
