Description

The Kepler Heavyweight Beanie uses a luxurious double-layered knit with a fold-over headband for seriously cosy warmth you won’t want to take off.

  • High warmth-to-weight ratio and double layered
  • Breathable and temperature-regulating material
  • Fold-over headband to keep your ears toasty

Hat on. Hat off. Hat on? Hat off? It can be hard to find the right balance sometimes. The Kepler Heavyweight Beanie uses superfine pure merino wool, sourced from non-mulesing Australian farms. A naturally warm, breathable and temperature-regulating material, it keeps you comfortable even as your heart rate rises.

Superfine merino has a really high warmth-weight ratio, providing lots of insulation without weight or bulk. As well as stuffing easily into pockets, this makes the Kepler Heavyweight Beanie a great bit of back-up warmth for backpacking and bikepacking. A warm hat can really makes a difference when you’re sat around the tent or nestled in your sleeping bag after a long, tiring day.

Unlike other materials, merino wool will keep you warm even when it gets a bit wet – ideal for damp and frosty bivvies. It’s naturally odour-resistant too, meaning you can wear it repeatedly before it starts to pong. Pretty handy on long multi-day trips. Or just if you’re too lazy to ever wash your kit!

Sustainability and Product Care

Product Care Information

Merino wool is naturally odour-resistant, requiring less washing. When your beanie does start to whiff, hand wash it in lukewarm water or stick it on a gentle cycle at 30°C.

Use a gentle soap instead of detergents if you can, and don’t use conditioners of fabric softeners – these can reduce your beanie’s wicking abilities.

Alpine Bond
If one of our products does not meet your expectations upon delivery, or if during its lifetime does not live up to the demands placed upon it, please return it to us for repair, replacement or refund. If the problem is our fault then we will do this to your satisfaction. If it’s your fault then we will help out the best we can. Find out more about our Alpine Bond here.

Sustainability

We only use merino from certified non-mulesed sources. Mulesing is a practice some farms use to guard against parasitic fly strike. We believe this practice is cruel and unnecessary and something that can be easily prevented by regular shearing.
