The Alpkit Foundation are offering subsidised Hill and Moorland Leader Training places. Send in an application by 28th September for your chance to secure a place.
Apply now to get a space on this subsidised Hill and Moorland training course as part of the Alpkit Foundation education programme, aimed to help more people gain essential training so they can use these skills for the benefit of others wanting to enjoy the outdoors safely.
This is an important step into a career in the outdoors, build skills relevant to a DofE or Scout group, or maybe be more proficient in hill craft for friends and family.
With support from the Alpkit Foundation, we are really excited to be able to offer 6 people the chance to undertake their Hill and Moorland leader training course at a hugely subsidised rate.
This is an intensive skills course and typically would be well over £200 per person, but with a bursary from the Alpkit Foundation we can offer places for £100. So if you've been dreaming of being able to introduce the beauty of getting onto the hills to so many more people then this is an amazing opportunity.
Application deadline - Monday 28th September.
Course Dates - 24th - 26th October.
For a chance to get one of these limited places please send an application to the Alpkit Foundation giving a reason why this course would help you and how you’ll be using it going forwards.
It's really easy to apply, simply fill in the Application Form (/foundation#apply) using 'Hill and Moorland Training' as the Project Title and some reasons why you feel this course will help (some sections of the form will not be applicable).
The Hill and Moorland Leader qualification is ideal for walkers who want to learn the skills required for effective group leadership in the hill and moorland areas of the UK and Ireland. This particular qualification is aimed at those operating in terrain that is generally more remote than that used by Lowland Leaders and not as steep or rocky as ground covered by Mountain Leaders. For full info you can find more info on the Mountain Training site.
The course will be run by our friends over at Thornbridge Outdoors and will take place between the 24th and 26th October, located out of their own site and Alpkit Hathersage.
The programme will follow the rough timings, but we’ll confirm closer to the date.
Day 1: 9am - 7pm
Day 2: 9am - late! Depends what time the night nav finishes but often towards midnight.
Day 3: 9am - 5pm.
So it’s an intense few days, but hopefully an incredibly rewarding one that is a great opportunity to make steps towards the full qualification.
A few things that need to be sorted first… Please read carefully.
