If we could choose when the New Year began, it wouldn’t be mid-winter, it would be right now. March changes the feel of things. There’s warmth in the sun again and you leave work in daylight. On the moors, the ring ouzels are returning and the bubbling call of the curlew is back. Spring doesn’t arrive all at once - it shows up in small, hopeful moments close to home.
