Alpkit Ilkley is open!

We're so excited to be into our new home in Ilkley. It's such a special place for us right at the foot of the Yorkshire Dales, a place we truly love. With so many awesome customers around the area, we can't wait to play our part in the community putting on events, courses, group bike rides and walks from the store. We want Alpkit to become a hub for both local residents and visitors to Ilkley who love adventures in the outdoors.

Jumping on a bike through the gateway into so many amazing roads or pouring over guidebooks and images of John Dunne climbing The New Statesman at the Cow and Calf, there's always been a real draw to the Yorkshire Dales. However this one has even deeper connection with Alpkit CEO David Hanney, having spent his influential younger years growing up in the area.

Looking back to his days in short trousers, David sums up why it's so special to be here. "The area around Ilkley really is incredible and having those views of rocks and hills from the front door really forged an early connection with the outdoors. This has led to a life passionate about spending time outdoors and the benefits it brings. .

We’ve had our eye on Ilkley for a while as I know from first-hand experience that it’s a brilliant base to enjoy the outdoors from. Whether it’s running over to Dick Hudsons, cycling up to Grassington, mountain biking in Chevin Woods or swimming in the Wharfe, I’ve many happy memories of enjoying the outdoors in and around the Ilkley

But also, as with all other Alpkit stores you’ll find a repair station to help your kit keep going, no matter what brand. Whether it's mending rips and holes or new zips. If your kit is broken we can help fix it. You can also drop your old kit into our Continuum donation box and we’ll give it a second life by getting it into the hands of someone who needs it.

There's plenty of exploring to do right from the door of Alpkit Ilkley so we'll be looking at getting events and activities running as soon as possible.
