How Waterproof Are Dry Bags?

Dry bags use a roll-top closure to create a reliable seal against rain, spray, and brief immersion.

They’re designed to:

• Keep kit dry in heavy rain

• Protect contents from splashes and spray

• Float when sealed and dropped in water

They’re not designed to be permanently submerged or used as underwater containers. Roll them correctly, clip them securely, and they’ll do their job brilliantly.

Choosing the Right Size

As a rough guide:

• 5–10L: spare layers, food, valuables

• 15–20L: clothes for a day or overnight

• 30L+: sleeping bags, bulky kit, group gear
