Lightweight. Heavy Duty.
The Gravitas has a lightweight 3-layer construction, giving it next-level comfort, weighing just 200g. It packs away into its own pocket-sized stuff sack. The 10D outer fabric is made from 100% recycled nylon. With 20K MVTR breathability and 20K HH waterproofing, the Gravitas is a high-performance jacket for fast and light activities in hostile weather.
A Hood for High Winds
The Gravitas has a hood with a stiffened wire peak. It has a simple rear adjuster and semi-elasticated opening for protection in sudden downpours. It also has a hood stow tab so you can roll it out of the way and use it as a collar.
Designed for Comfort
The cuffs are cut to protect the backs of your hands and feature semi-elasticated openings for comfort. The Gravitas has also been designed with minimal seams and no visible stitching throughout to reduce snag and wear points, including on the ample-sized hidden chest pocket. The soft tricot knit backer eliminates clamminess next to your skin.
Designer’s notes
“Everyone knows that boil-in-the-bag feeling from a waterproof that doesn’t breathe. For Gravitas, we wanted to create an ultralight jacket for working hard in the hills that’d leave that clammy feeling a thing of the past. And we’ve done it. It’s a 200g jacket, yes, 200! (size M) with a 3-layer construction, 20K hydrostatic head and 20K MVTR.
But we didn’t want to just chase the numbers or compromise durability. The outer fabric is fully recycled 10D nylon that’ll take the wear and tear of the trail, there’s a wire peaked hood that can be stowed quickly, semi-elasticated cuffs for comfort and it’ll pack down into its tiny stuff sack too.”

Sustainability and Product Care
Sustainability
Recycled materials
Gravitas uses a 100% recycled nylon outer fabric, made from post-industrial sources. This uses any leftover stuff from nylon production and fabric scraps from the cutting process and remakes it into brand new nylon fabric.
PFC-free DWR
Gravitas has a completely PFC-free DWR treatment on its outer fabric. PFCs are potentially harmful and have been found to build up in the environment. We don't like the sound of that and are one of the first outdoor brands in the world to eliminate them from our range.
Where it's made
Our products are made in the best factories in the world. We know the factories personally and they have all signed up to our Code of Ethics in our supply chain. This includes the Ethical Trading Initiative base code, fair pay, safe working environments, no child labour, no modern slavery, no bribery or corruption, no materials from conflict zones and humane farming methods.
All our factories sign up to our Code of Conduct. Find out where we make our product by visiting our Factories of Alpkit factory zone.
Reducing our carbon footprint
We are carbon neutral under PAS2060 and offset our Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 operations and transport emissions. We recognise that offsetting is not part of the solution but a point to pass through on a journey to Net Zero. Carbon Neutral is just a step in that journey.
We have joined the Science Based Targets Initiative which sets independent targets for us to achieve to do our bit to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Our targets are to halve our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2025 based on 2018 base year and reduce our total carbon intensity by 15% every year to achieve genuine net zero by 2050.
End of life
When your partnership with this product is over send it back to us and we will pass it on to someone that needs it through our Continuum Project.
Product care
Washing instructions
Wash: 30˚C, delicate cycle at or hand wash with lukewarm water.
Dry: Line dry or tumble dry on low heat.
Iron: Use a cool iron to reactivate the DWR.
Use a technical wash product (like Nikwax Tech Wash or Grangers Performance Wash) or pure soap. DO NOT use detergent, fabric conditioners or softeners. Rinse thoroughly in clean water.
Caring for your DWR
To keep your jacket’s DWR treatment in good condition, wash it regularly in pure soap or a specialist cleaner. You may also need to refresh the treatment once or twice a year dependent on usage. Use a spray-on reproofer to maintain your jacket's wicking ability.
