Not the Wet Ride Thing: Adapting plans in unpredictable weather.
Legend has it that Robert the Bruce observed a spider trying to spin its web from one side of a cave to another. It kept trying, it kept failing. until one glorious day it latched that final move and Bob could at last vacate that cold windy cave. We don’t know if that spider managed to capture its dinner, but the lesson helped Bob go on to achieve great things.
Good things do come to those who wait, and I found proof of that in the 2013 Welsh Ride Thing. For 3 long days I didn’t care where the grey clouds go when they are not over Wales, because what remained were glorious blue skies, voluptuous meadows of green grass, forests of free range foraging animals, long dusty bridalways lined with pompom girls and of course awesome cake. It was serious payback time.
The Welsh Ride Thing is a charity bikepacking event; a 3 day riding adventure through mid Wales with 2 overnight wild bivvies. Checkout Bear Bones Bikepacking for more details.
