Matt Buckley's road test of the Sonder Colibri Ti Chorus for Cyclist magazine highlighted this bike's impressive features and versatility. Combined they deliver an affordable titanium bike that promises comfort and speed across various terrains.
I really enjoyed riding the Colibri Ti; it strikes a good balance between feeling lively enough to ride hard yet offering surprising levels of comfort straight out of the box and with some careful upgrades it could be an excellent year-round bike for the majority of riders.
Matt finds the Colibri Ti is well-suited for both tarmac and 'groad' rides, thanks to its accommodation for 36mm tyres. Its titanium frame not only guarantees durability but could also signify a lifelong cycling companion.
Matts build was equipped with a Campagnolo Chorus 12-speed transmission and Sonder Alpha Aero wheels which, Matt found to be an attractive package, but with room for potential upgrades. Fortunately that is possible through the Sonder purchasing process.
Sonder does not spec any flagship groupsets on the Colibri Ti from stock but does offer a custom build service which allows customers to spec a bike to their exact requirements so the likes of Dura-Ace, SRAM Red or Super Record are options, although this will obviously drive the price upwards.
Matt notes the Colibri's titanium build, specifically using the 3AL/2.5V aeronautical grade titanium, is notable for its high strength-to-weight ratio, making it an ideal choice for those seeking resilience and longevity in a road bike. The Colibri Ti's design further impresses with its internal cable routing, three bottle cage mounts, and mudguard mounts, emphasizing the bike's versatility. Riding it was a pleasure for Matt, who appreciated its responsive acceleration, competent climbing abilities, and assured handling at high speeds.
