ALPKIT AGAINST WASTE

The outdoors is good.

Good for the mind. Good for the body. And good for the soul.

One of the unexpected and positive consequences of lockdown is that so many people are discovering the joys and benefits of being outside. After months of being stuck at home facing individual struggles and challenges, the outdoors has been a constant, welcoming place.

Now, more than ever, outside needs our help. Our wild spaces are feeling the strain of so many people visiting and we can make a difference by giving something back. Or rather, taking litter away.

We’re heading out on Sunday 12th July to pick up litter to help nature recover from some busy weeks. It’d be lovely to have you along. If you’d like to join us, here’s when and where.

And if you can’t, just one small act as individuals each time we head out will make a huge difference. Nature will thank us all in its own way in the future!

What to Bring and How to Stay Safe?

Depending on location, we will have a limited number of gloves available and at least 30 litter grabbers. If you have your own litter grabber, please bring it along.

The very nature of litter picking is socially distant, and we advise everyone who joins us on the day to adhere to current government guidelines to ensure everyone's safety. If you have a mask, wear it. If you have sanitizer gel, bring it.

You'll be free to roam wherever the rubbish takes you. When you've had your fill of countryside clearing, bring the rubbish back to us to be taken care of. We're working with local National Park and waste authorities to ensure the rubbish is taken away, and as much of it gets recycled as possible.

The best thing you could bring are your friends and family. Spread the word, share the message and let's keep our wild spaces clean!

What if I Can't Make it?

Don't worry, we all have our part to play. If you can't join us on the day, you can still take part by heading out to your local area for a clean up.

You don't need to plan a grand clean up mission, if you're out walking, riding, swimming, climbing, running or camping and you see some rubbish, just pick it up and put it in the next bin you see. If we all do our part, even just a little, we can all make a difference.
