High Inspiration

A classic long-distance hiking trial, the Tour de Mont Blanc circles the Mont Blanc Massif, covering over 100 miles and 33,000 feet of climbing. In the summer of 2014, writer, painter and racer, Heather Dawe ran the European route in the heart of the Alps.

Heather’s inspiration to write and draw stems from her adventures in wild places – the challenges, experiences and scenery are the muse for her beautiful illustrations. She not only details her journey of the Tour, but also how being in the mountains is the inspiration for many climbers, writers, artists and other innovators, including Nan Shepherd, Walter Bonatti, John Gill and Katherine Mansfield.
