Fantom
$239.99 $299.99
Striking the perfect balance between warmth, weight, and compressibility, the Fantom is the only serious down jacket you’ll ever need.
- Large baffles of ethically sourced 650 FP hydrophobic duck down for maximum insulation
- Compressible materials and a lightweight construction
- Adjustable helmet-compatible hood and a two-way zip
- 100% recycled nylon fabric and PFC Free DWR
The Fantom is designed to keep you wonderfully warm, from the highest of Alpine Peaks right down to chilly valley camps around the tent. We’ve used large baffles packed with 650 fill power RDS-approved ethically sourced down. There’s a whole lotta loft inside those baffles – enough to keep you seriously snug at subzero.
By using lightweight, 100% recycled nylon ripstop, a stitch-through baffle construction, and simplified features, we’ve managed to keep the overall jacket weight low for its warmth. This also makes the Fantom highly compressible for stuffing away in rucksacks.
For climbing and mountaineering use, there’s a helmet-compatible hood with wired peak and a two-way front zip. The longer cut also stops your bum from getting chilly on long belays! The hood can be cinched right down with side and rear adjustors so that it keeps out draughts and follows your head movements.
DownTek™ PFC-free hydrophobic down adds extra moisture resistance – it loses less of its insulating loft when wet, dries quicker and is less prone to clumping. The outer shell is also treated with an environmentally friendly PFC-free water repellent to brush off light snow and drizzle.
The zipped handwarmer pockets and collar have a soft tricot lining so you can really hunker down and stay cosy when the cold bites. There’s an internal zipped chest pocket - useful for keeping phone and headtorch batteries warm – and two internal dump pockets too, for defrosting gloves or warming up climbing shoes during grit season.

Sustainability and Product Care
Product Care Information
You can and should wash your down jacket – most active outdoor folk do this once or twice a year. Washing and tumble drying flushes out the dirt and oils that have accumulated and puffs up your down nicely after it’s gotten damp. So, don’t panic! Down is surprisingly durable. Read our Down Wash Guide for advice on washing your down jacket, or let us take care of it for you.
Repairs
We have dedicated Repair Stations in our stores and we're fully equipped to breathe new life into your old kit. This includes spare parts, patches, new zips and wash and reproofing of your down and waterproofs. Pop into any store or contact us online for more info.

Sustainability
How It Is Made
RDS Approved Ethical Down
The Responsible Down Standard is an independent and voluntary global standard that ensures down is sourced ethically. All our down is RDS-approved from non-force fed and non-live plucked suppliers.
PFC-Free
The Fantom uses completely PFC-free Downtek™ Hydrophobic down and a PFC-Free water repellent treatment (DWR) on its outer fabric. PFCs are potentially harmful and have been found to build up in the environment. We don't like the sound of that and we're one of the first brands in the world to eliminate them from our range.
Recycled Fabrics
The Fantom’s fabric is made from 100% recycled nylon from post-industrial sources. Fabric scraps from the cutting process and leftover manufacturing matter are remade it into brand new nylon fabric!
Where It Is Made
Our products are made in the best factories in the world. We know the factories personally and they have all signed up to our Code of Ethics in our supply chain. This includes the Ethical Trading Initiative base code, fair pay, safe working environments, no child labour, no modern slavery, no bribery or corruption, no materials from conflict zones and humane farming methods.
All our factories sign up to our Code of Conduct. Find out where we make our product by visiting our Factories of Alpkit factory zone.
Reducing our carbon footprint
We are carbon neutral under PAS2060 and offset our Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 operations and transport emissions. We recognise that offsetting is not part of the solution but a point to pass through on a journey to Net Zero. Carbon Neutral is just a step in that journey.
We have joined the Science Based Targets Initiative which sets independent targets for us to achieve to do our bit to limit global warming to 1.5°C. Our targets are to halve our Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 2025 based on 2018 base year and reduce our total carbon intesnity by 15% every year to achieve genuine net zero by 2050.
End of life
